Remembrance Sunday

Thanks to our village yarn-bomber we have a wonderfully poignant postbox topper in the village for Remembrance Day.

And thanks to Slaugham Parish Council we also have an “Unknown Soldier Tommy” memorial standing outside The Half Moon.

43 young men set off from Warninglid to fight for their country in the Great War of 1914-1918. Thirteen of them gave their lives and are remembered on the Memorial board. Seven others, who were at school in Warninglid but lived elsewhere in the Parish, also lost their lives. We will remember them all.27 villagers came to hold silence and pay respects to the fallen of Warninglid in WWI and WWII. Thanks to Carol Pickering for making the poppy wreath.

Thanks also to Jamie and Penny at the Half Moon for hosting and providing everyone with coffee and croissants. Yogi Turville, a great nephew of two of the fallen showed us photos of his great uncles. Thank you Yogi.
